How a Simple Idea Turned Into a Thriving Community for AI Enthusiasts

Hi, I’m G. (Yes, just G, parang mysterious superhero lang.) If this is your first time here, welcome to my corner of the internet—a space where we mix a bit of wit, a dash of tech geekery, and a whole lot of heart. Today, I want to share the story of how a random Reddit post turned into something bigger than I could have imagined.

How It All Started

It was a regular November day, and on a whim, I posted on Reddit: “Free AI Webinar for Pinoys.” Wala lang, I thought maybe 10 people would be interested. I was ready to host a small Zoom call and share my knowledge about AI tools. But then, the unexpected happened—50 people signed up in just an hour. Before I knew it, registrations already reached 350. Cue panic mode.

But what started as a small idea quickly became something meaningful. This wasn’t just about teaching people how to use AI—it was about creating a space where Pinoys could learn, share, and thrive in the AI era.

The Webinars That Started It All

Over the course of November, I hosted three webinars under the theme “AI for Pinoys.” Here’s what we covered:

Session Highlights:

✅ Effective Prompting: How to craft the right prompts to unlock AI’s potential (because, let’s face it, AI can only be as smart as your questions).
✅ AI in Workflows: From automating lead generation to building efficient systems.
✅ Free Certifications: Practical ways to upskill for free.

We explored tools like ChatGPT, Leonardo AI, Make.com, and even quirky apps like Napkin AI for organizing random ideas. Attendees left with actionable insights they could apply immediately—whether for freelancing, small businesses, or personal productivity.

The Community That’s Growing

From these webinars, something even more exciting happened: the birth of a community. The Talyer AI Discord, which started with just 10 members, now has 108 active participants. And our new subreddit, r/AiForPinoys, is gaining traction too, with 136 reddit users sharing tips, tools, and success stories.

What makes these community special isn’t just the numbers. It’s the stories. One attendee messaged me after a session:

“Sobrang generous mo sa pagbibigay ng resources—they’re all super helpful! You’re such a good educator, and I can tell you’re passionate in what you’re doing!”

Hearing this reminded me why I started this journey. It’s not just about AI; it’s about empowerment.
